Greg Motter 4 months agoTruly great gym for the cost (caveats follow). It has a significantly better lifting area than my old gym that cost 6 times more. If you are looking for a gym with a well thought out lifting area and adequate cardio machines, Vasa is a great choice. With that said, there are several absolute caveats: 1) If you are thinking about joining. Go visit at it's most busy time that you are planning to visit regularly. So if you are an afternoon after work gym person, please go visit on Monday or Tuesday at the time you plan to work out. There are times that you will drive around 20 minutes and never find a parking place. 2) If you need change in a locker room. Please visit the locker room when you visit and make sure it can accommodate you. The locker rooms are very tiny and the floor is often wet and there are a couple other gyms with beautiful locker rooms very close if that is what you need in a gym. 3) If you are older (like myself) and need ellipticals to avoid too much wear and tear on your joints, just realize there are 3 ellipticals and they are sometimes full for hours on end. This is one place I hope they make a change at some point, but until then, do realize there are simply not enough at times. Anyway, Vasa is a truly great gym for the price, as long as you can deal with the caveats I've laid out.
Christina Leonheart 3 months agoI’ve been a member for about two years now and transferred to this location when it first opened. Since then, I’ve been coming here regularly and honestly have never had a bad experience. You can really tell how much this team cares about both their coworkers and the well-being of their members. Because of that, I wanted to make sure I gave a proper shoutout to a few people who have truly made my experience here even better from start to finish. At the front desk, thank you to Dion, Bailey, and Sam for always being so kind, greeting everyone with a welcoming smile, and never hesitating to help answer questions, even the “stupid” ones. For the Deep Stretch/Flow/Restore classes, shoutout to Ariel and Sierra. Their kindness, positive energy, and willingness to work with you always leave me in a better mood by the time I walk out of class. I also really appreciate how every staff member makes you feel acknowledged and seen. Thank you Vasa for having such a wonderful team!
Ian Grahek 8 months agoThis is probably the best facility you’ll find for the price. Everything comes with a trade-off—if you want affordable memberships with access to a wide variety of equipment and classes, the gym is going to be busy. The staff isn’t very involved and can sometimes be rude, but they’re decent overall for a large franchise gym. The new location has definitely helped reduce the crowd during peak hours. I use the steam room and cold plunge after every workout, and they’ve become two of my favorite parts of the experience.
Dexter Branan (hanzobento) 7 months agoIf you enjoy unpredictable traffic patterns, near misses, and fighting for parking spots that used to be easy to find, then the VASA Fitness Center is the place for you. Since this location opened, the parking situation for all nearby businesses has become chaotic and unsafe. Drivers speed, stop suddenly, or cut across lanes to grab one of the few open spaces, often blocking access for surrounding stores and restaurants. It has created a frustrating and dangerous environment for everyone in the area, not just gym-goers. VASA might be a fine gym inside, but the lack of planning and consideration for shared parking has single handedly disrupted an entire block of otherwise cooperative businesses. I hope management or city planners revisit the layout and traffic flow soon, because right now it is a mess. Edit: with winter in full swing it gets dark early. The parking lot is incredibly dangerous with the vehicle overcrowding, excessive speeding, no traffic control, and dim orange parking lot lights. It’s the Trader Joe’s parking lot equivalent of a gym.
Shaina Trimboli 4 months agoI like the gym but there are horrible billing practices. They make it hard to freeze or continue a freeze if you are out of state. Vasa staff wont/cant help. And the number they have you call is heartless. Second time I’ve had issues with it in less than a year.
