I really wanted to love Merritt, but I did not have the friendliest experience. If you want nice facilities, they are very nice, clean, and there is plenty of exercise equipment. However, I don’t feel it’s the friendliest environment compared to other local gyms. I was on the third level parking garage with my baby and bags waiting in the cold for the elevator. After a few minutes, it was clear neither of the two elevators were operating. I called the front desk and she said, “They aren’t working but you can take the stairs.” Of course I thought of taking the stairs, but would rather not drag my stroller, bags, and baby down three flights of stairs and pay $171 per month to do so. When I got to the front desk, no one came up to help me sign up for the membership. There were at least five people at the front desk right in front of me, but it took a while for someone to come. I asked for help, and they did help me. They also ended up fixing one of the elevators. Again, it’s a great facility but I do feel that telling someone to just take the stairs is ableist and it kind of feels like Merritt is there to make money, not really spread kindness and inclusivity. We all make mistakes in what we say, I have grace for that, but I will leave a one star review in case others want to hear an honest opinion of the friendliness of the gym environment. It’s also a very “headphones in I don’t want to talk to anyone” feel in the gym. Some people love that! It felt somewhat cold to me, when I’m used to a certain aura of friendliness and social interaction at other gyms. Everyone has different preferences.

This gym is amazing. Words cannot describe it but I will highlight 4 things I love. Basketball court, swimming pool, open space and open 24hrs. Little pricer than other gyms but worth it!

I visited the pool for the first time in a while and was truly shocked by the level of disrespect from the pool bar staff. I did not feel welcomed or even wanted which is extremely disappointing because this is the first time that I have ever been treated this way at a Merritt. Please re train or hire new pool bar staff we as customers pay way to much to be ignored and treated poorly I will gladly take my money elsewhere for the summer if this is what I have to look forward to.

My home gym is Towson location but I come to the 24h gyms when I get off work early mornings. I came to canton location as it was closet to my job and house and I loved it! It was 2 something int he morning and none was there so this review is from another stand point versus the day I can’t speak for. They do have child care here and it’s a plus. Stuff was super friendly and I can’t wait to try the other clubs out. I’m currently getting back in the gym slowly so I don’t know much about slot of the equipment but the options of everything they have to offer is a lot!

Came to get a pass to work out during Labor Day weekend . No passes from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Would have been nice to say on the website. Additionally, what if I was trying to obtain a membership, I can’t test the gym first ? Ridiculous - mind you it’s a rainy weekend and even if you had the pool open - I expressly wanted to purchase a pass. I will never come here again.
