If you enjoy crashing out every time you’re at the gym…then this one is for you!!!! I’ve tried to be really patient as the gym goes through recent transitions, but it’s gotten to a point where every single workout at this gym is frustrating. I’ve been lifting over 10 years, and I’m a trainer and a bodybuilder so usually my lift is the highlight of my day. But the recent changes have absolutely ruined that. I dread coming to this location now and every workout is frustrating—and I know my friends who also come to this location feel the same way. The advertisement of the shift to “newer equipment” was so misleading because some great pieces were replaced with cheaper machines that don’t work as well, or are even completely unusable. They’re not made for anyone under 5’8” (for reference, I’m 5’4”—so average height) without spending a bunch of extra time finding extra equipment to modify machines to be passable. And, the grips on the equipment are pretty much all too large or the rubber just spins around so can’t actually get a good grip. Not to mention that it’s now way overcrowded due to cramming DTX and Gov Center members all in one space. This has gotten to a point where I have joined a second gym outside the city to go to on the weekends just so I can get a decent lift in. However, I’d like to have a decent gym in the city so I don’t always have to make that drive. I’d quit if I didn’t need something to get by that’s convenient to my apartment. Next time they “update” the gym, they should consult someone who actually knows what they’re doing and knows gym equipment enough to not replace everything with cheap hotel-gym-grade equipment.

"This machine needs a much needed rest day"...said differently, its not working. A common theme for equipment not to be functioning with this BSC location. I've been a member for 4+ years and I can't remember a 2 month span where 80%+ of the equipment worked. For context, over 20 weeks ago the sauna in the mens locker room broke and as of March 11th, no material repairs have occurred. Ive attempted multiple times to understand the repair schedule from Reggie Lominy (Branch Manager), Jessica Baxter (Regional Manager), and Matt Higgins (Corporate Facilities Manager). Nobody can explain why equipment has been down for nearly 6 months. To continue with the locker room theme, there is a relentless smell of sewage and intermittent hot water at best. Regarding the work-out facilities - take it or leave it; high trafficked equipment breaks down weekly. Less used machines every month or so - the location claims to have upgraded the equipment. Partially true however, what is not mentioned is some of the equipment is 2nd hand from other locations and other equipment is from the brand "Matrix", a manufacturer widely recognized as a budget solution for their poorly designed machines. I cant understand why equipment cannot be maintained in a timely manner or why management fails to recognize the growing inadequacies of this location. I've attempted to meet with Reggie, Jessica, and Matt to discuss and provide real perspective, very little interest from the team on how member experience can be improved. Lastly, enjoy dues increasing in what feels like an annual cadence.

Wish I could give this place one star. The sauna was broken for MONTHS. Men’s locker room is nasty. The locker doors are actually off the hinges, some don’t close/lock. The AIR CONDITIONING in the summer is just NON-EXISTENT. I thought it’d get better in the winter but NOPE!!! Because it’s cold outside, they turn off the air conditioning. There’s 12 treadmills for the entire gym and it’s ALWAYS hot and muggy in there. It’s packed like crazy always and overall just not well kept. It’s not worth the money at all. Don’t sign up, PLEASE.

Music is always blasting. The music is so loud I cant hear myself think and there is a speaker every 5 feet so there’s no escaping. Also the men’s sauna has been broken for over a year and they have no plans of fixing it even though whenever I ask the staff they say they have someone coming in next week. Im absolutely done with this place. What a waste of money.

I'll just share the email I sent today to the General Manager since he's OOO for the rest of the year: I’ve been a member at this location for approximately three months and pay $70 per month. During this entire time, the sauna has never once been operational. There has recently been a sign posted indicating it is out of service, but I have not seen any repairs in progress, nor has there been any communication regarding an expected repair timeline. In addition, more than half of the lockers in the women’s locker room are unusable due to broken hinges. This makes it difficult to safely store belongings. I would also appreciate clarification on whether the men’s locker room is experiencing similar conditions, or if this issue is isolated to the women’s facilities. The most significant issue is the shower setup in the women’s locker room. All of the shower heads are positioned in a way that causes water to spray directly onto the floors outside of the shower stalls. As a result, any clothes, towels, or shoes placed outside the shower are consistently drenched. This has been one of the most frustrating inconveniences I’ve encountered at this location. Frankly, I would much rather forgo complimentary soap than deal with poorly positioned shower heads and a sauna that remains unusable month after month. To be clear, I am not seeking vague assurance that repairs are “in progress.” I need concrete information: When are these issues going to be addressed? Why am I paying the same membership fee I paid at the former Downtown Crossing location—where I experienced none of these problems—if these issues are specific to this location? And again, are these conditions affecting both locker rooms equally, or disproportionately impacting the women’s facilities? I’m paying for a full-service gym experience, and right now that’s not what I’m receiving. I would appreciate a clear response outlining the repair timelines and how NYSC plans to address these ongoing issues.
