Love a good gym when I’m traveling. Only downside if that during the weekends, there’s no building concierge so I could not open the main door of the building. Since i’m a hotel guest, i wasn’t issued a token so i had to wait outside until a member came

I visited town for the week for work. Most gyms in the area were boutique gyms that only offered classes. I did the free day pass on my first day but then ended up signing up for the month commitment free. The month costs less than a single day pass at most gym. While there are no free standing barbells, there are a handful of smith racks, dumbbells up to 75 lbs, as well as rowers, treads l, and other cardio equipment. It’s enough to get a heavy lift in and definitely a great workout if you get creative. The staff was all very friendly. The members were very nice as well. It was spacious and never seemed too crowded. If it is your first time here, keep in mind that it is located on the lower level of the building address listed on google.

I love it here. I have a few different gym memberships and this is probably my favorite one. Just joined as a black card member because I travel a lot and needed a gym I could count on. This location is very nice and the black card holders have their own room with massage chairs, hydro massage beds, and free tanning (if you like that). I definitely take advantage of the massage chairs daily. Plenty of workout equipment. I’ve never had to wait to use anything, they have a 30 minute workout area which is great for people who are just starting out or on a time crunch. I go early in the mornings and it’s never busy. They have waters and energy drinks too. The staff here are very friendly, helpful, and give great customer service. It’s also super clean, the staff regularly cleans the gym when I’m working out in there.

Updated review: This is the second time I’m updating my review. After my previous feedback, I was contacted by a manager, and I also spoke directly with a regional manager. Unfortunately, the outcome was disappointing. I was clearly told that nothing will be changing with the tanning beds in the near future, and the bulbs will not be replaced, as they currently have other priorities. This essentially means that the service is not working and will not be working for an undefined period of time. At the same time, it is still included in the membership, which is being charged at full price. I have been paying for over 10 months for a membership that includes access to tanning, but in reality, this service cannot be properly used. I find this unfair to customers. If a service is not being provided, it should be communicated honestly, and the pricing or conditions should be adjusted accordingly. This review applies to several Planet Fitness locations in Charlotte. The main issue is that the tanning beds are not working properly. I purchased my membership specifically for tanning. When I lived in Raleigh, I never had this problem — no matter which location I went to, the tanning beds worked. Before moving to Charlotte, I even asked if there was a stand-up tanning booth in the area where I needed it. I was told there was, but when I arrived it turned out that there actually wasn’t one in the location I needed. Because of this, I ended up driving 30 minutes to other locations, including University City and Matthews. At University City there are only lying tanning beds, and most of the time they do not work properly. I have contacted the manager several times and was told someone would call me back, but nothing has been resolved. For about three months I have basically been unable to use the tanning service that I pay for. In Matthews there are several stand-up tanning booths. Some time ago they barely worked, but at least there was a very small tanning result after a very long period of use. I have very fair skin, and normally I start tanning very quickly (sometimes even burning in about 4–5 minutes). However, even when using the maximum time allowed in your tanning beds, I get almost no result at all. Recently, the lamps in the Matthews location were finally replaced and the tanning booth started working properly. However, this location is still far from where I live. The location near my work — which is the one I’m reviewing — unfortunately still has tanning beds that do not work effectively at all. I would like to understand: • When are the tanning lamps replaced? • How can members find out when lamps have been changed? I have been paying for this membership for almost a year, but I am essentially paying for a service that does not work. I am not interested in the gym itself because I already work at another gym. The only reason I purchased this membership was for the tanning beds. Instead, I have to drive 40–50 minutes trying to find a location where the tanning actually works, and even then there is a 9-minute limit, which makes no sense if the lamps have not been replaced in a very long time and are not effective. Please let me know when the lamps will be replaced and how members can find out about it, because right now I feel like I am paying for a service that is simply not functioning.

Brand new location opened on Wednesday friendly staff great new additions to the equipment lineup. Staff very friendly and helpful walked me through some of the new equipment movements. Located on the lower level so as you enter the building hang a left at the elevators and go down to the Lower Level. If you are in uptown definitely suggest checking this location out!
