I have been a member at this location since opening. Honestly, it became my entire personality for a minute. Haha. Over the past year, my physical and mental health has improved since I committed to Equinox Rittenhouse! The good: You can't get this many class options for a better price in the city. You get unlimited classes, enough said. I get a lot of enjoyment out of trying new workouts. The gym has a clean/lux aesthetic. I find the membership to be a great value. The staff is always friendly and helpful. There's a nice sitting area, juice bar, hot tub, pool, and steam room - the amenities are great. The members are relatively respectful, and there aren't a lot of obnoxious influencers. Overall, I would highly recommend this gym. What needs improvement: When the gym opened, for the first 6 months the 3rd floor pool deck was not opened. I'm still bitter. 🤷‍♀️ If something is broken, it takes too long to get fixed. The lights in the womens steam room have been defective since opening. Hot tub took weeks to get fixed, lights out in the womens room, mirrors missing at the vanity etc etc. Since the new year, people have been taking photos/selfies in the womens locker room. Managers need to do a better job explaining the club rules to new members. With this being a luxury gym, there needs to be more attention spent reviewing fine details in maintaining the facility. For example, chips in granite counter tops and the stair case. Floors needing a deep cleaning as high traffic areas are forming "trail" marks. Rust on fixtures on the pool deck... etc etc

Overpriced. The hot tub isn't always hot and goes day to day at full performance. The steam room break a lot and the machinery does not make it steamy enough most of the time. Equinox will increase your monthly dues by $20 a month every single year.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. This is a beautiful gym with fantastic amenities. They care about the details and make it more of an experience than just a gym. It’s pricey but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend.

I moved to the area in August and joined Equinox shortly after, and at first I absolutely loved this gym. It quickly became part of my routine. The spin classes are excellent, and the yin yoga classes with Jamie were honestly the perfect way to end my work week on Fridays. Those classes were a highlight for me and one of the main reasons I enjoyed being a member here. My only consistent complaint about the facility itself is the steam room. Since August, it has almost never been working properly. It frequently isn’t hot enough or is completely broken. Staff will often say it’s been fixed, but it rarely reaches a real steam room temperature. I go to the gym almost every day, and I can count on one hand the number of times it has actually been functioning correctly. Unfortunately, my experience took a much more serious turn starting in November. Over the past several months, another member repeatedly followed me into the locker room and steam room, going out of his way to be in those spaces at the same time as me. At one point he attempted to introduce himself while I was changing, which made me uncomfortable. The pattern continued for months and became increasingly concerning. I reported the situation to management, and things seemed to improve briefly. However, recently the behavior escalated. After leaving the gym, this same individual followed me outside and approached me a block from my home. He ran up behind me, cut in front of me, stared at me in an intimidating way, and then walked off. I reported this incident as well, expecting the gym to take meaningful action to protect members. Unfortunately, I was told they would not cancel or suspend the individual’s membership. Given the repeated pattern of behavior over several months and the fact that it has now occurred outside the gym, this response was extremely disappointing. Equinox positions itself as a premium gym experience, but member safety should be taken seriously. I genuinely enjoyed this gym when I first joined, but the lack of action in a situation like this has made me reconsider whether I feel comfortable continuing to work out here. I do want to give a shout out to Pete Quigley in memberships. He has been the only person who seemed to truly take my concerns seriously and has been a pleasure to deal with throughout this situation.

I recently switched from City Fitness and I’m super happy with this Equinox. I’ve read a lot of the negative comments and I can genuinely say that I don’t have any real negatives after going for 7 weeks straight. If you’re looking for something to nitpick you can always find some small detail but Equinox is designed for a certain type of customer and I personally have enjoyed the differences here vs other gyms. Is it more expensive than many others? Sure. Does is have peak periods that get a bit busy? Yes. But that is typical of any gym I’ve ever belonged to. The class sections, the aesthetic, the cleanliness, the amenities, and the staff have all been great from my point of view. This is not the gym for those looking for the cheapest membership. But if you want to take advantage of all that this spot offers, the value is definitely there.
