Casey 4 months agoI stopped by Virginia Beach Iron Gym while visiting VA Beach for a work trip, and it was exactly what I was hoping to find. First off, the 24/7 access — even with a day pass — was a huge win. This was the only gym in Virginia Beach I could find that offered true around-the-clock access to day pass visitors. Everywhere else required front desk staff to arrive in the morning. I paid online and had full access for 24 hours. Super convenient and seamless. I’m a powerlifter, so the dedicated strength section immediately stood out to me. It’s clearly set up for serious training. That said, what impressed me just as much was the machine selection. They’ve got everything from high-end Panatta pieces to old-school original Nautilus equipment. If you appreciate quality equipment and a gym that respects training culture, you’ll love this place. To top it off, the bathrooms and showers were clean and well-maintained — always a big plus when you’re traveling. Highly recommend. I’ll absolutely be back next time I’m in town!
Brian Jones 5 months agoVB iron is hands down the best gym on the east coast, it has the best equipment and atmosphere, everyone in there is super friendly. With endless amount of equipment you’ll never have to wait for a open machine I highly recommend getting a membership at VB iron
Joseph Campbell 3 months agoI’m closing in on 2 years that I’ve been at this gym. I think I can easily say this is the best gym in the Va Beach area, especially if you do body building training. That being said, I believe the owner also knows this which is why laziness is an issue. There’s been certain machines that have been broken since I’ve joined in November 2024. When things break, they stay broken. 2 of the 3 duel cable machines haven’t been fixed, which is annoying when it’s rush hour and it’s competitive to get a cable machine. On top of machines that haven’t been fixed in over a year, bathroom supplies and other issues in the men’s locker room specifically has been a problem. A door has been missing on a bathroom stall for over 2 months now. You would think that’s something that would be fixed and replaced in a matter of days for the sake of members privacy. Multiple times the last few weeks, myself and other friends have tried to use the bathroom but have been denied since the toilet paper hasn’t been replaced. The 24 hour gym access is very convenient, but it’s rare if you see any kind of staff behind the counter or doing routine maintenance and bathroom restocking. I do enjoy coming to this gym on a daily basis, but with the price I’m paying I would like to see more effort go into the machines and overall experience when I come through the door.
John Holland 2 months agoThe gym has decent equipment, but there are many issues I have with the gym when it comes to management. Let’s start with the day pass, $50 is crazy especially when you’re coming out of town to hangout with friends and to get a quick workout in with them. Every time while attending this gym there were the same machines that were “out of service” when clearly no one here is taking the initiative of getting them fixed. There’s either no one at the front desk but when there is the customer service from those individuals are always in a condescending attitude or just not very pleasant to have a conversation with. The gym also is very unsanitary, I rarely see people wiping them down or any towels and cleaning bottles given out to make sure the equipment stays clean along with the bathrooms being gross most of the time. I don’t recommend attending this gym there’s a lot better options in the area along with better customer service.
Kyle Ford 2 months agoOk. Do people really join this place? I went in for an overpriced day pass (50.00). Ridiculous cost. The machines were rusted and old. Great variety, several of them were not operational and the rest looked like they were about to die of death-by-rust. Looks like the owner robbed A pawn shop of old equipment over the last few years and keeps bringing it in. Also, make sure you use the restroom before you go. Missing stall door on the only toilet stall. Poor guy was on full display when I walked in. No toilet paper either. Felt like I was back in Army Ranger school. I walked out. Seems like the owner gets the most reviews after a bad post. Let’s see if his friends jump in again to save my bad review.
