The gym itself is actually pretty solid. Decent size, high ceilings, and good ventilation so it doesn’t end up smelling like a humid locker room after peak hours. Equipment-wise and overall atmosphere, I really don’t have any complaints. The basement parking garage definitely needs work though. It smells like piss, weed, and regret. But honestly, that’s pretty standard in San Francisco at this point 😂 My biggest issue isn’t the gym. It’s some of the members. I sat down on a machine and a guy asked if he could go next, which is completely normal. I politely declined working in because I move through my sets quickly and don’t spend half my workout scrolling on my phone between sets. What annoyed me was people constantly crowding my space and interrupting me mid-set because they were waiting. One guy even tried rushing me, saying there’s only one machine and multiple people are waiting. At one point, I had like 4 people staring at me while I was lifting. If this was a powerlifting meet, I’d appreciate the audience. But come on man, let people finish their workout in peace. Overall, the gym itself is good. A few inconsiderate members just make the experience more frustrating than it needs to be.

This review is from Saturday, February 7th, The upstairs unisex bathroom no seat covers and in the three restrooms working downstairs in the women’s locker room no seat covers available. Either management needs to do a better job. With this.

Gym is ok but needs a lot of improvement. Bathrooms smell like urine and are wet everywhere, need much better regular cleaning. No doors or curtains on showers. Spray bottles broken for cleaning equipment.

Don’t go here. Absolute dump. About 50% of the ellipticals are busted. The place is filthy, including the exercise areas and, particularly the changing rooms. Sinks are broken and there is human ( ? ) hair on all surfaces. Toilets are surrounded by pools of urine. Don’t let management comments fool you. They have been promising improvements for years and no action is ever taken. Place should be shut down by the Health Department.

I’ve been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for over 20 years, and unfortunately, the Bryan Street location is one of the dirtiest and most poorly maintained gyms I’ve seen. The bathrooms, sauna, steam room, and pool area are consistently unsanitary. There is toilet paper and urine on the bathroom floors, mold in the showers, and several lights in the bathrooms do not work. What’s even more concerning is that young children attend swimming lessons here. The condition of the bathrooms and pool area is unacceptable for families and kids. This location desperately needs a full remodel and much better cleaning and maintenance standards in the bathroom, sauna, and pool areas. It’s disappointing to see a gym I’ve supported for so many years fall to this level. I would never feel comfortable bringing my child here for swimming lessons.
