As a long time lifter (30 years) I have been to all of the gym. I started in my middle school gym for wrestling back in the 1900s with rusty bars and cement filled plastic “plates”. Got the job done and I was even able to study some earth science memorizing all the various spiders that lived in the nooks and crannies. All I can say is if you need motivation on your bench just have a spider land in your forehead. Haha. Next was the YMCA (it’s everything you’d expect while also being nothing you’d expect at the same time). Next was World Gym which I liked a lot. At least the location I went to was brand new so I got to be there from day 1. It had all the new fancy equipment, really nice locker rooms, and attracted bigger more advanced men that I could learn from. Should have stayed there. Next I went through a high end executive club gym phase thinking I could use it to network. Not for me. Then I tried a warehouse CrossFit gym which was actually really fun but also very specific. Group workouts were great for the first few months but then I needed more freedom to make up my own workouts. After that I decided to build my own home gym which was great for a while but it became a bit boring and lonely after a while. I may be harshly judged for saying it but there is just something about the subtle competitiveness of being around other people lifting that gives me a boost. So I found myself back on the lookout for another gym to join. I tried several before landing at Chuze. They have a friendly, knowledgeable, and inviting staff. Plenty of parking. Good light and very clean. Plenty of equipment. The protein shake bar at the front desk is awesome! Great all around gym for beginners and advanced gym heads alike. This is where I train for my iron man comps, Deka Fits, and just for general fitness. Only con - no steam room

I really wanted to like this gym, but the experience has been consistently frustrating. The biggest issue is how overcrowded it is. No matter what time you go, it feels packed, which makes it hard to actually get a workout in. Parking is also limited, so just getting into the gym can be a hassle. The policies don’t help either. Some of the rules feel excessive or poorly thought out—like limiting massage chairs to 10 minutes and enforcing strict rules in areas where it doesn’t seem necessary. Instead of improving the experience, it just adds to the frustration. The daycare is another challenge. It closes early and is often at capacity, which means you may have to wait or rearrange your schedule just to use it. For parents, that’s a big downside. Customer service has also been inconsistent. Some staff are great, but others come across as rude or unhelpful, which makes the overall environment less welcoming. At this price point, I expected better organization, more space, and a smoother experience. Right now, it feels like the gym has outgrown its capacity and hasn’t adjusted accordingly. I hope management takes feedback seriously and makes improvements, because this location has potential—but it’s not meeting expectations as it stands.

I can no longer recommend this location. I have been lifting for 30 years, and I have tried out all Chuze Fitness locations in the area. This location used to be one of Jacksonville's nicest gyms. However, in recent years this place has become horrible. Always dirty, male locker room somehow smells like bad box. Toilet paper and other garbage always overflowing out of the trash cans. Cleaning wipes always out of stock. And that's not even acknowledging the other members of the gym. Plates, benches, and other equipment always missing or left scattered across the floor with zero effort to put them back where they belong. Equipment never wiped down after being used. A bunch of children who can't clean up after themselves, with no effort from the employees to reprimand them. What a disgrace. Also the music is terrible.

They lock you into a contract just to have a new machine broken every other day. I have seen the same half drunken open caprisun near one of the machines for the past week absolutely untouched. Just raises the question if the employees are actually cleaning or not. For 30-35 a month you should be able to get a clean gym environment with equipment that is reliable. What is the point of advertising a new gym all over socials without exemplifying the fact that the machines are unreliable. One of the cable towers is a complete lie when it comes to the weight. Other cable towers are just not smooth once so ever.. big changes need to be made.

I love the gym! On the first day I thought: damn, why did I change LA FITNESS, for this gym with old devices? And soon I started to find myself in the middle of the devices and today I'm in love with every corner of the gym! Obviously, there are still many old devices falling to pieces, but the gym is under renovation and it's getting better every day to train and go to the gym, it's being the best time of my day!
