I joined Life Time River North in part because of the variety of group fitness classes offered when the club first opened. Over the years, I have watched the schedule gradually shrink, with classes being reduced, canceled, reclassified, or moved to different times. While I understand that schedules evolve, it is disappointing to see fewer options available despite the club's premium membership pricing. Group fitness programming is a major part of the value that many members receive from their membership. When class offerings continue to be reduced, particularly in formats with dedicated followings, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify the premium cost compared to other gyms in the area. The facility itself is beautiful, but I would like to see greater investment in maintaining a diverse and stable class schedule, along with more transparency and responsiveness when members raise concerns about programming changes.

I will say that I do enjoy this gym a lot and the Life Cafe is the best place i've found to do remote work. However, there is one main problem I have with this place: I am constantly reminded that I am a customer despite paying high membership fees. **I cannot bring my own food in the cafe**, personal trainers constantly trying to sell BS supplements to me, only $50 t-shirts for sale when i need a spare (EOS fitness gave me unlimited tshirts for $20/mo), and more... Generally the vibe conveyed to someone new to "premium" gyms is that these places are exclusive. But you come to realize that the vibe is actually corporate.

I normally don’t leave bad reviews, but I figured I’d write a message of transparency for those debating on getting a membership at this location. I spoke to someone on the phone about coming in to try the gym out because I have a membership at a different location. He told me about the price increase and all that stuff, said I’m good to go for the next day. I come into the gym, and at the front desk I’m told where everything is, other than the outdoor pool. I was told not even this location’s regular members have access to the outdoor pool, unless they pay extra for it. So on top of a $300+ monthly membership, a $200 club upgrade fee you still have to pay whatever else just to use the pool. Besides that, how are you going to get people to upgrade or sign up for a membership if you don’t allow them to try out (at least one time) the amenities a facility so expensive has to offer? It was more this aspect that was upsetting. If I was running a gym, I would allow people to try out what it has to offer instead of being shady. Compared to the other lifetime locations, this one is probably the worst.Thank God I had this experience so I know not to upgrade my membership to the River North one. Take your money elsewhere if you’re looking for a gym in the city, and spare yourself the headache.

Kristine, Lauren & Renee are incredible for yoga sculpt (kinda like yoga mixed with mat pilates). I’ve been to a lot of workout studios and a lot of lifetimes even and these three are truely next level & such gems. David, Joshua & Alyssa are incredible for CTR (yes, they actually have reformer style class included in gym membership which is amazing). Overall, I’ve really enjoyed my now 2+ years at lifetime and can see myself being here for a lot longer. Management here is also pretty strong in my opinion. Great for the corporate girlies 💕

This place could easily be 5 stars if half the treadmills and amenities (steam room, cold plunge, etc) weren’t broken at any given time. The bigger frustration, though, is equipment access — staff members often occupy a significant percentage of machines and stations, whether they’re training clients, or just getting in their own workouts, leaving members waiting. Great facility in theory, but management really needs to address maintenance issues and staff utilization of equipment, especially at peak times.
